New Year's Resolutions

Posted by Picasa

Resolution & Prayer Book

Yes, I start with a list a mile long, and end up completing about a third of what I want to accomplish. This year I'm trying focus on only three things:
Goal: Keep my life balanced. That means equal amounts of physical, mental and spiritual needs will be met.

1. Maintain a healthy lifestyle: Lose weight, stand up tall, exercise.
2. Maintain a healthy mental status: My job is pretty stressful, so, the way I de-stress is through my creativity with scrapping and cardmaking. So, one of the ways for me to de-stress is work on my projects.
3. Maintain a healthy spiritual life: Meet with God everyday and read my Bible.

So, how do you reach your New Year's resolution? Well, you have to have a plan and be organized. I happen to love to organize, but when I get too many projects going at the same's impossible to be organized. I meet myself "coming and going!"

Resolution # 1
Ok, so my first plan is to try to keep a running total of funds that I save, by taking my lunch to work. At the end of the month, the money I save will go into my "mad money fund." So, I made a notebook, with Stampin' Up! paper to keep in my pocket. It'll also remind me to write down the things I eat during the day. I'm trying to maximize vegetables, fruits, water and protein and stay away from empty calories and processed foods.I'm also going to keep track of my activity during the day. Walk a bit more and try to take the stairs instead of the elevators at work. I'm going to do 1% better everyday, and by doing this I'll accomplish my first healthy living goal.

Resolution # 2
Healthy living goal number two is to spend time doing what I love, and that is to scrap and make cards. This year I want to focus on my scrapping, so, I'll complete a two page layout for my personal scrapbook each week. It will be fun to work on my scrapping! Sometimes I fall into the trap of over-preparing for my Stampin' Up! events, so,I'm going to try to "keep it simple" this year and have fun!

Resolution # 3
This resolution should be the number one thing I do in my life, but, as I'm not perfect, I fall short of keeping my "date" with God. I will take the first 1/2 hour of my day before I start work, to communicate with God & read my Bible. To be honest about this, I have a larger notebook for noting my thoughts each day and writing my prayer concerns and thanksgivings. Of course, I've prepared the notebook with beautiful Stampin' Up! paper. :)

Well there you have it! Three goals, a plan and motivation! It's going to be a great year, and I know that I'll be healthier by the end of 2010!

Ok, now for the Stampin' Up! posts. I have a great project you can do at home that is simple and a great way to start out the new year! Cover a big notebook and a little notebook with beautiful Stampin' Up! paper and start achieving your goals for this year. The notebooks will keep you accountable! I'm attaching a picture of one I've recently done. These make great gifts, too! Enjoy making your notebooks and Happy New Year!

Quiet Christmas...

It's almost 5 AM and I've been up since about 3:30 AM. Sidney was prancing around on the hardwood floors and as funny as it sounds, it's like an alarm clock to me. So, here I am, all is silent, except for the snoring of my husband. This has been a very quiet Christmas this year, and that's ok. With three of the four living out of state, it's hard to get together. It's just another facet of my life with grown up kids, we have to celebrate when we can, and last week we spent Christmas with Marc, Katie, Joshua & Abby. What a great time we had with them.

We took the kids to Applebee's for lunch and after lunch we opened gifts. We received a beautiful picture album from them and a wonderful cinnamon scented candle. We gave Marc & Katie money. They need it with two growing children, and just maybe they'll use some of it for themselves. Joshua & Abby were so excited as they opened their gifts and I got some fantastic pictures. Once the gifts were opened, the carbs I ate at lunch started to kick in, and I wanted to get some fresh air. Grand Haven had about 3 inches of snow on the ground, so Joshua, Abby, Katie, Grandma & Grandpa went outside to play. I'd forgotten how heavy a four and two year old are on a sled! But guess what, I had a great time pulling them and throwing snowballs and just having fun! Grandpa and Katie did most of the pulling, but I did my share. Whew, that's hard work! No wonder we have kids when we're young! It was fun and it was a wonderful day.

So, now I sit, trying to figure out my next project. it's 0510... guess I have to get going on something. But, first, I want to record what I did on Christmas. Randy and I didn't buy each other presents this year...or so I thought! I woke up to a huge present under the tree, and guess what? It was a new flat screen monitor for my computer. Wow! It is nice. I've been thrilled with the clarity of words and pictures on it. I guess it's for both of us, but, it is really more for me. Randy does this to me. We decide not to get anything, then he surprises me. He's such a sweet guy. So, most of the day, I played with my computer, then I started to work on sorting some of my old photo. I'm still looking for Ben's 1st birthday baby pictures. I haven't found them, yet. It's so frustrating! I can't finish his first year book until I find those pictures! I did finish my Arizona vacation scrapbook yesterday. All it needed was my journaling, a few titles, and a couple of "do-dads" to make it complete. I also finished the title page for my 2008 scrapbook. I was procrastinating on that one, and I don't know why!

So, since I can't make any noise by going upstairs to search for photos, I guess I'll upload some of my favorites from 2009, so I can add them to an album. It's so nice to have the Scrap Attacks each month! I've got my pages done for 2009 and all I have to do is add my photos. Well, I think that's what I'm going to do now, but, before I do, I want to post some photos here. Enjoy!

Gift Card Box

I got these little boxes last year and I thought they were so cute. So, my dear husband, Randy, painted them for me and they look so cute decorated in designer paper and using the Tree Trimmings stamp set. This is my prototype, but the ones we'll be making will be using the Print Pack II, Garden Green paper. They'll look fabulous and will be so festive with red and gold trim.

Explosion Box

Here's the explosion box we'll be doing. We'll be filling it with gift tags for our Christmas packages. No directions for the tags, just free-creating with my friends. I'll provide directions for the box at the party, but, you can find it on Splitcoast Stampers website. The one we're doing tonight will be using the "Christmas Cocoa Specialty Paper in the Holiday Mini. It's beautiful paper and I can't wait until everyone sees it!

I had to cancel my Wednesday night Stamp Camp due to the weather, and I was looking forward to itand everyone else was, too! It was so windy and snowy that I was afraid that those that came would have trouble getting home. Today is not much better. In fact there are blizzard warnings until about 4 PM, so, I'll have to make a last minute decision. I hope I don't have to cancel tonight's Christmas Party. We're going to make some awesome things and it would be a shame for me to box these things up instead of having my stamp campers enjoy making them. If I have to cancel, I might try to re-schedule next week, but, it may not work for everyone. Well, I think I'll post what we're going to be doing. I'm going to be optomistic and hope that some of my friends can come.

Here's our first project, so that we can place all of our other projects in it!
